The price of privilege

In some ways, King Charles is quite lucky — he has unimaginable wealth, privilege, and status (for no fault of his).

But would you or I want to be in his position?

He has to spend much of his life doing meaningless ceremonial stuff. Having endured a little bit of ceremony in my past life, I can’t tell you how hollow and dreadful it feels.

Charles has no meaningful role or authority. He can’t take up a proper job or start a company. He can’t voice his genuine opinion on anything. He can’t disagree with the status quo, no matter how oppressive it is.

His royal privileges are what rob him of a chance to live a full life. And yet, he will anxiously try to preserve those very privileges.

This is the definition of a sad life.

Would you want to be in his shoes? I hope not.
