Optionality Hinders Action

I write nearly every day. And I have done it for years. Because in my mind, writing is not optional.

It is something I do on good days and bad, on busy days and idle days. Most importantly, I do it whether I feel like it or not.

If something is optional, our mind will renegotiate. On bad days, you will rationalize it. Don’t. The only habits that stick are the ones you will do even on bad days.

Optionality is the enemy of getting things done.

A few things in life should be non-negotiable. For me, in addition to writing, it is meditation and workout.

That is how you build habits that compound. That is the only way.
