Tools can’t replace competence

You (and I) are in danger.

Right now, LinkedIn is flooded with tools, templates, and hacks, especially after chatGPT. And to be sure, many of these tools have great value. They will make you faster and more efficient.

But we might assume that these tools can replace competence — they can’t. And this is the danger.

These tools as just multipliers. Multiply them by zero, you get a zero. Multiply by a big number, you get a bigger number.

All these tools haven’t changed the basics. We still need to think clearly, write persuasively, and craft stories that make people laugh, cry, or smile. We still need creativity, problem-solving skills, and an analytical mind.

Fundamentally, nothing has changed.

The tools can’t replace us (yet). If we are exceptional, the tools will make us more exceptional. If not, nothing will change.

So it is back to basics — keep polishing your craft, keep deepening your skill, keep sharpening your knife.

The real competitive advantage will always come from the same place — your brain.
