In a marketing class, our business school professor once told us – “The world doesn’t owe you anything just because you went to Wharton.”
This is one lesson I have always cherished – we are not entitled to anything regardless of which college we went to or what job we did in our past life. We have to earn everything all over again.
Of course, your past experiences may give you invaluable learning and credibility. But it still does not entitle you to anything – you have to earn it the hard way.
When you get a customer to buy your product or an investor to invest in your company, you have to first earn their trust.
Humility is the only thing we are entitled to. Everything else has to be earned.
